Abstract
6 ABSTRACT This study evaluates the quality of drinking water from three wells and two boreholes to determine their suitability for human consumption. The microbiological analysis assessed the presence of harmful microorganisms, such as E. coli and other coliform bacteria, which are indicators of feacal contamination and potential health risks. The physico-chemical analysis focused on critical parameters like, pH, turbidity, total dissolved solids (TDS), water hardness, and the presence of heavy metals like lead and arsenic. The results showed that well water samples had significant microbial contamination, exceeding recommended standards, likely due to their exposure to environmental pollutants and human activities. In contrast, borehole water samples generally satisfied the recommended microbial safety standards of XX albeit with non-compliance in certain physico-chemical properties, such as high TDS and hardness. These finding underscore the importance of routine water quality assessments and the implementation of appropriate treatment processes for a save water and overall community health.
