Abstract
This study examines the comparative analysis of the nutritional content of millet and sorghum hulls with focus on their vitamins , minerals and proximate content.Millet and sorghum Hulls are often considered waste products and are discarded during processing, but they may contain valuable nutrients that could be utilized as animal feed or as a source of dietary fiber for human consumption. The results shows that millet hulls had higher crude protein (4.59 ± 0.14%) and fat content (13.35 ± 4.70%) compared to sorghum hulls (4.23 ± 0.75% for protein and 7.92 ± 6.80% for fat). while, sorghum hulls had a higher fiber (2.54 ± 0.10%) and carbohydrate (75.34 ± 5.76%) content, suggesting its potential for enhancing dietary fiber intake. In terms of minerals, sorghum hulls contained significantly higher levels of iron (6.20 ± 0.04 mg/dL), calcium (7.31 ± 1.03 mg/dL), and magnesium (2.91 ± 2.10 mg/dL) than millet hulls. Sorghum and millet hulls were recommended in animal feed, agriculture utilization and research in order to increase their intake and reduce their waste.
