Abstract
Abstract This study examines the influence of television in curbing gender issues in politics, using the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Lafia as a case study. The research seeks to determine how television programmes, news coverage, and public affairs broadcasts contribute to promoting gender equality and reducing discrimination against women in political participation. It also explores the extent to which NTA Lafia serves as an agent of social change by shaping public perception and encouraging female political inclusion. The study adopts a survey research design, with data collected through questionnaires and interviews from staff of NTA Lafia and selected viewers within Lafia metropolis. Findings reveal that television has a significant role in raising awareness on gender-related political issues, though challenges such as inadequate airtime, cultural bias, and limited gender-sensitive content still hinder its full effectiveness. The study concludes that with consistent gender-based programming, balanced media representation, and collaboration with gender advocacy groups.
