Abstract
ABSTRACT This research work examined the effect of kidnapping on the nation‘s economy, using Delta State as a case study. A questionnaire was designed for us to analyze the data. The analysis show among other things that the rising poverty, bad governance, unemployment, compensation by oil companies (multinational) to host communities and wrong policies to the plight of the people are all the major factors that lead to the rising activities of kidnapping which can paralyze the nation ‘s economy. On the basis of the findings of this work, the study suggested that government at all level should put in place reforms that will reduce poverty and unemployment in the country.
