Abstract
ABSTRACT This research work focuses on the performance of Nigerian bankers clearing house and the performance of the banking industry. The study examines and evaluates the banker's clearing house statistics which were extracted from Central Bank of Nigeria. The research made use of qualitative data. The findings revealed that the value of cheques cleared are normally high during economic boom than when it is experiencing economic recession. I was also observed that the value of cheques cleared is determined by the number of prospective customers who clear cheque on daily basis. The study therefore recommended that a special clearing session should be introduced to cater for exigencies that often make the first clearing session to close later than the prescribed time of 8am daily.
