Abstract
ABSTRACT This research work, "The influence of election rigging in youth voting behavior: a study of 2023 presidential election is aimed at examining the impact of election rigging on the voting behavior of youth during the 2023 presidential election. Through a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, including surveys, interviews, and literature review, the study aims to provide insights into the extent to which election rigging affects the participation and perceptions of young voters in democratic processes. The findings from this research can inform policymakers, electoral bodies, and civil society organizations on strategies to enhance electoral integrity and youth engagement in future elections. In chapter one of this project, a brief history will be examined in enumerating the genesis of election and how such anti-democratic tenets has manifested in the electoral process of the fourth republic (2007 to 2023 general election). This chapter will also look into the problems associated with election Rigging. Chapter two will emphasis on existing literature to butters empirical factors to the course of study. Chapter three highlights the cases of election malpractice in the fourth republic general elections, Also, the disastrous consequences of election malpractices poses to democracy. Chapter four presents possible solution and recommendation to the problem of election rigging in Nigeria.
