Abstract
ABSTRACT This research focuses on the modification of a vacuum freeze dryer by integrating airflow into the system to enhance drying efficiency and product quality. Freeze drying, a superior method for preserving food and sensitive materials, is hindered by inefficiencies in traditional designs, such as non-uniform drying and extended processing times. This study incorporates design improvements, including optimized airflow channels, enhanced evaporator connections, and better insulation to address these issues. A test run of the machine using water samples revealed a uniform reduction in mass and an energy efficiency of 9%. The limited time-Frame hindered an extensive testing of the machine. This work underscores the importance of tailored technological interventions to advance freeze-drying systems, with implications for agricultural, pharmaceutical, and biotechnological applications. The development of this new of the machine would advance enhance productivity in this sector of fish drying.
