Microbiological Assessment of Indoor and Outdoor Air

Airborne microbes are biological airborne contaminants like bacteria, viruses or fungi as well as airborne toxins passed from one victim to the next through the air, without physical contact, causing irritation at the very least. The aim of this review is to carry out Microbiological Assessment of indoor air quality of some named areas of Chukuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Uli and to determine the range of Microbes found in some named areas of Chukuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Uli. The presence of microorganisms in wastewater entering the air together with the droplets of wastewater that are formed during mixing and aeration creates a certain pathogenic risk. The cause of disease from an airborne microbe varies from species to species. One example of an airborne toxin is called endotoxin or lipopolysaccharide which may be one of the most important human allergens. When comparing a gram-negative bacteria to a gram-positive, negative are more resistant against antibodies, because of their outer membrane, which the positive lack. Outdoor air is often referred to as ambient air. The common sources of outdoor air pollution are emissions caused by combustion processes from motor vehicles, solid fuel burning and industry. In other words Outdoor could be defined as the air outside the building or taken from outdoors and not previously circulated through the system. All analysis shows the prevailing presence of Bacterial and Fungal microbes around Snack shops 1 and 2, Waste bin site 1 and 2, Lecture Halls and Laboratory respectively.
