Abstract
Plastic pollution in marine environments poses a significant ecological threat, particularly in the Niger Delta, where shipping activities and improper waste disposal contribute to environmental degradation. This project focuses on the design, installation, and operation of the propulsion system of an autonomous ocean cleaner, a solution aimed at mitigating ocean plastic pollution. The propulsion system comprises dual thrusters powered by a 12V battery, optimized for efficiency and endurance. Key design considerations include power requirements, battery life, and overall operational performance of the system under varying load conditions. The study involves theoretical calculations, system integration, and testing to evaluate the effectiveness of the propulsion mechanism. Results indicate that the propulsion system provides adequate thrust for sustained operation while maintaining energy efficiency. This project contributes to the ongoing development of autonomous marine waste collection systems, offering a sustainable approach to addressing plastic pollution in coastal waters.
