Abstract
This research explores the essential role of the actor in play production, focusing on the character of Taiwo in Ahmed Yerima’s The Sisters. The study investigates how the actor’s performance, emotional interpretation, and collaborative engagement with direction, sound, and visual elements influence narrative coherence and audience perception. Using qualitative methods such as play analysis, interviews, and comparative study, it highlights how acting techniques like method acting and emotional restraint enhance character realism. Taiwo’s portrayal reveals the complexities of familial responsibility, sacrifice, and identity within a patriarchal society. The study concludes that an actor’s interpretative choices significantly shape a play’s success and audience engagement, reinforcing the actor’s centrality in the creative process of theatrical storytelling.
