Evaluating the Relevance of Human Resources Management in Profit Maximization in Hotel Industry.

Abstract Effective Human Resource Management is pivotal in any business or non-business organization where people are grouped collectively for the purpose of achieving organizational goals and objectives. The objective of this research work is to find out the Relevance of Human Resources Management in Profit Maximization in Hospitality Industry. The research was carried out at Eko hotel & Suites, Lagos State of Nigeria to evaluate the relevance of Human Resources Management in Profit Maximization in Hospitality Industry. Questionnaires were used as a source of data collection, a sample size of 57 respondents was selected from the population. Statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) was used in analyzing the gathered data. The research hypotheses were tested by using chi-square. The chi-square calculated was computed as (17.32) and (7.14) while the chi-square tabulated was (5.99). Therefore, since the chi-square computed is greater than chi-square tabulated, the null hypotheses (Ho) is rejected and the alternate hypotheses (H1) is accepted. It was therefore concluded that human resources management have relevance on profit maximization in hospitality industry and human resources management is needed in hospitality industry. It was then recommended that a functional human resources management department should be established in the hospitality industry mostly hotels, tourism centres, that employs good numbers of work force
