Abstract
This study investigates the factors affecting students’ monthly electricity usage, utilizing data collected through a structured questionnaire distributed to 385 students. The ques- tionnaire encompassed socio-demographic information (Section A) and explored three key factors: Awareness and Attitudes (Section B), Seasonal Variations and Tracking (Section C), and Energy Savings Practices and Behaviors (Section D). The objective was to identify the significant determinants of electricity consumption among students. Chi-square tests were employed to examine the relationship between these factors and monthly electricity usage. The results indicated that all three factors had a significant impact on electricity consumption. Higher awareness and positive attitudes towards energy conservation were associated with reduced electricity usage. Additionally, students who actively monitored their electricity usage and were mindful of seasonal variations exhibited lower consumption. Furthermore, engagement in energy-saving practices and behaviors was strongly correlated with reduced electricity usage.
