Abstract
The function of Public Relations (PR) in accomplishing organisational goals is compared in lstudy, utilizing Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science, and Technology (BOUESTI) as a study. The study uses a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative information from interviews with quantitative data from surveys to assess the efficacy of different PR tactics. Press releases received the highest mean score, highlighting its efficacy in raising stakeholder knowledge and public opinion. The results show that BOUESTI primarily uses media relations and press releases. The study does, however, point out serious flaws in community outreach initiatives, underscoring a lost chance to establish strong bonds with regional stakeholders. On the other hand, the study makes analogies to well-known PR frameworks, such Grunig's Excellence Theory, which highlights the need of proactive involvement and strategic communication. The report also identifies shortcomings in proactive reputation management, suggesting that better methods are required to allay stakeholder concerns and boost the university's reputation. Additionally emphasized is the value of internal communication in fostering employee engagement, which reflects the necessity for businesses to cultivate a culture of participation. With the ultimate goal of bringing institutional practices into line with more general organizational objectives, the study offers insightful suggestions for improving PR effectiveness by evaluating BOUESTI's PR strategies with accepted theoretical frameworks and industry best practices. Setting the stage for further research in the topic, this comparative analysis adds to a deeper understanding of PR's crucial role in organizational success.
