Influence of Information and Communication Technology Skills on Access to Job Opportunities for Office Technology and Management Graduates (case Study of Ministry of Health and Education, Abeere, Osogbo, Osun State)

Abstract
Abstract This study focused on influence of information and communication technology skills on access to job opportunities for office technology and management graduates in modern offices. Case study of ministry of health and education, Abeere, Osogbo, Osun State. The population of the study comprised 44 Directors, permanent secretaries and OTM graduates. For the purpose of collecting information, various literature and textbooks were consulted. The frame work for data collection of the research work was built on four (4) research questions. (i) What is the influence of desktop publishing skills on access to job opportunities for OTM graduates in modern offices? (ii) What is the influence of word processing skills on access to job opportunities for OTM graduates in modern offices? (iii) What is the influence of database management skills on access to job opportunities for OTM graduates in modern offices? (iv)What is the influence of web surfing skills on access to job opportunities for OTM graduates in modern offices? Also a well structured questionnaire was constructed, administered on the subject. The questionnaire was distributed by hand. Responses to the research questions were analyzed using simple mean method. The findings revealed that desktop publishing skills enable OTM graduates to have access to job opportunities in the modern offices. It was concluded that OTM graduates who want to secure job opportunities must possess the following skills; networking skills, computer operations skills, web surfing skills, word processing skills and desktop publishing skills. It was recommended that OTM graduates should try to equip themselves with a very sound knowledge of Information and Communication Technology skills as this will enable them to perform their duties efficiently.
