Influence of Osbc Radio Program on the Use of Contraceptive Among Women in Osogbo Local Government

Abstract
This study appraising the influence of mass media on the use of contraceptive among women in Osogbo Local Government of Osun Sate. The results indicated that mass media play important roles in disseminating contraceptive knowledge in our society being a major and credible source ofinformation. It is observed that women who are regularly exposed to mass media messages have more knowledge about contraceptives than their counterparts. This study find out that women transform their knowledge into behaviour that is, contraceptive knowledge reduces fertility, no matter which fertility metric is measured. Survey research method was adopted with 150 copies of questionnaires were administered. It is concluded that community broadcasting media is educating the mass rural dwellers on how to utilize both drug and injections including other means ofpreventing pregnancy in this advanced era such as family planning, child-spacing e.t.c unlike in the past where women used old and local materials such lime stone, bitter lemon, charm and manymore. It is recommended that mass media are advised to use a simple language and pictures to illustrate their message to enhance understanding among rural dwellers.
