Design and Implementation of a Computerized Payroll Information System: a Case Study of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere

The "Computerized Payroll Information System (CPIS)" project is designed to provide a stand-alone application which is secure, user-friendly and efficient in its operations, and addresses all the drawbacks of manual and semi-automated payroll systems. A study case at Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science, and Technology, Ikere (BOUESTI) centralizes payroll processing to eliminate manual calculations, reduce errors and improve productivity. Its task will include the automation of most payroll-related tasks such as salary computation, tax deduction, allowances allocation, payslip generation, with additional features such as handling employee details. It employs the modern combination of React for front-end operations and Node.js for back-end operations, with robust architecture for its reliability and security. This entire study presents a detailed analysis of the existing systems, the design of an intuitive user interface, and other functionalities that serve the organization. The challenges of power cut and legacy systems were overcome with innovative designs. The outputs produced by this system are clear in depicting its strength at improving payroll management with efficient workflow and accuracy. This project is a precursor for future improvements, which may include possible integration with human resource management systems and banking APIs. The CPIS is a great boost in modernizing payroll processes and enhancing organizational efficiency in the digital age.
