Abstract

This project work, Design and Implementation of fingerprint verification system for crime is concerned with the analysis and design of a computerized system aimed at supporting the Civil Defence, Osogbo, Osun State as a case study. Crime investigation using fingerprint is a constitutes a serious offense against an individual or the state and is punishable by law and biometric approach is refers to authentication techniques that rely on measurable physical characteristics that can be automatically checked by using fingerprint. Reliable criminal suspects' recognition is an important problem in crime investigation process. The study proposes and implements a biometric-based crime investigation system for the Civil Defence, Osogbo. The study covers the State headquarters of the Civil Defence and proposes a biometric approach to Crime investigation for a more clear and successful Crime investigation. It is therefore concluded that a crime investigation using biometric approach that is capable of providing a user friendly and accessible means of crime investigation using biometric approach has been developed. The programming language used to implement this project is visual basic 6.0 because it is object oriented language and it is user's friendly.
