Abstract

Employees are the backbone of any organization, and their attitudes toward their work and the outcomes they achieve have a direct impact on organizational performance and overall stability. Organizations that lack stability often underperform. The objectives of this study were to examine the relationship between motivation and employee productivity, explore the link between motivational factors and staff performance, and assess how incentives influence employees’ work approach and overall performance. To accomplish these objectives, a structured questionnaire was developed and administered to the respondents. The collected data were analyzed using the Simple Percentage method and Chi-Square tests. The findings revealed that, in addition to financial incentives, actively involving employees in processes aimed at achieving organizational effectiveness is crucial, as lack of cooperation can lead to wasted managerial effort. The study concluded that motivation should target staff at all levels to enhance productivity and achieve higher returns. Both primary and secondary data were extensively utilized, with primary data collected through questionnaires and interviews conducted with bank staff to obtain information about incentive packages. The study also indicated that the motivational strategies at Access Bank Nigeria Plc have undergone significant changes since the organization’s establishment.
