Abstract
ABSTRACT This research work on the Growth and yield of container grown tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum) varieties as influenced by plant stand and NPK Rates was carried out at College of Agriculture, Science and Technology Teaching and Research Farm, Lafia, Nasarawa State. The experiment consists of two varieties of tomatoes (UTC and Royal bold F1) consisting of sixteen (16) bags of two plant and NPK rates stand factorially combined and laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). The growth and yield parameters of the tomatoes were recorded. The recorded parameters were subjected to analysis of variance (ANOVA) for a randomized complete block design and least significant difference (LSD) were used to separate difference in means. Based on the observation obtained from the study, both Varieties, Plant Stand and NPK fertilizer rates had effect on growth and yield of tomatoes and it has been recommend that farmers should use V1 (UTC), S2, and 3Kg NPK for optimum yield.
