Abstract
This study explores the multiple roles of Public Relations (PR) in fostering peace and security in Nigeria, particularly focusing on the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and its relationship with the public. It examines the historical context of PR in Nigeria, highlighting its evolution from colonial practices to contemporary strategies influenced by digital communication. The research identifies significant challenges faced by the NPF, particularly following the EndSARS protests, which have severely damaged public trust. It aims to investigate how PR initiatives contribute to maintaining a secure environment, the effectiveness of media coverage in promoting peace, and public perceptions of these efforts in Ekiti State.The study employs both the quantitative and qualitative research methods to gather insights from various stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies and community members. Key findings indicate that effective PR strategies are essential for rebuilding trust, managing crises, and shaping public perception of security issues. The implications of this research extend to policy development, emphasizing the need for transparent communication and media engagement to enhance national security efforts.
