Abstract
Abstract This study investigates the impact of internet on the academic performance of students with hearing impairment in Bayero University Kano. The increasing importance of internet in education has raised questions about its effectiveness for students with disabilities, particularly those with hearing impairments. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis methods. The study reveals that internet use has a positive impact on the academic performance of students with hearing impairment, providing them with access to educational resources, facilitating communication, and enhancing their learning experience. However, challenges such as limited access to internet-enabled devices, inadequate training on internet use, and technical issues were identified. The study recommends that Bayero University Kano should provide adequate internet facilities and training for students with hearing impairment to enhance their academic performance. The findings of this study have implications for policy and practice in promoting inclusive education for students with disabilities in Nigerian universities.
