Rave Fm and the Coverage of Sports Programmes in Osun State

Abstract
This project focuses on Rave fm and the Coverage of Sports Programmes in Osun State. The objective of this study is to know the performance of the media in providing speedy, efficient, effective and qualitative sports coverage. Sports was originally a recreational activity, but with the introduction of financial and material benefits and an attendant honour to it, the number of participants, the number of events and the struggle for victory have introduced high level polities into it. Consequent upon the expected rewards, fraud, irregularities and injustices have overshadowed the system. The project adopted Development Media theory. The researcher used survey method whereby the researcher used questionnaire to get the analysis of the data. One hundred and fifty questionnaires were distributed to the respondents. The study concluded that Mass media should focus more on sports and engender increased participation by government, corporate bodies and individuals, the study recommends that Nigerian mass media should endeavor to adequately broadcast our football league matches to show our own style of football to the world.
