Abstract
ABSTRACT Serum electrolytes, urea and creatinine are most widely accepted parameters to assess renal status and as a result, blood collection is an invasive technique which causes anxiety and discomfort to patients due to blood loss from frequent blood sampling and thereby potentially increases the risk for patients as well as health care professionals to blood borne diseases. The aim of this study was to determine and correlate electrolyte, urea and creatinine in serum and saliva of healthy individual. A total of twenty (20) patients were recruited for this study in which SALIVA AND SERUM was collected from each of the patient . Samples where analyzed using enzamtic method urease berthelot for urea, Modified Jaffe’s kinetic method For creatinine and Ion selective electrod method For electrolytes. Test of significance was determined using one way analysis of variance and the statistical significance was set at P< 0.05. The results were expressed as Mean ± SD. From the results the Mean ± SD for serum creatinine (94.42 ± 12.71), sodium (137.7 ± 9.01), and chloride (98.75 ± 2.16) was significantly (p
