Abstract
ABSTRACT This study examines how integrating Building Information Modeling (BIM) into the auditing processes of Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) projects at Bayero University Kano can enhance project delivery within Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs). Addressing a critical gap in the literature on digital technologies in auditing, the research employs a qualitative exploratory design—gathering insights from a broad spectrum of stakeholders such as engineers, architects, quantity surveyors, and government officials—to evaluate BIM's potential to improve transparency, cost control, and risk management. Findings reveal that robust construction project auditing is essential for ensuring compliance with contractual, environmental, safety, financial, and regulatory standards, while also enabling early detection of deviations and cost overruns. BIM significantly contributes by providing real-time data, advanced 3D visualization, and accurate cost estimation, though challenges such as interoperability, the need for specialized training, and resistance to technological change remain. In light of these insights, the study recommends enhanced stakeholder training, the standardization of digital protocols, increased investment in BIM infrastructure, and stronger collaborative frameworks between public and private entities, ultimately offering valuable strategies for optimizing project outcomes in the construction sector.
