Abstract

ABSTRACT The increasing demand for independent living, particularly among disabled persons, aged individuals, and busy professionals, has motivated the development of intelligent home automation systems. This project aims to design and construct an IoT-based home automation system using IP addresses, enabling remote monitoring and automated control of home appliances. Previous projects have explored similar concepts, such as the "Smart Home Automation System" using Arduino and Wi-Fi, and the "IoT-Based Home Automation System" using Raspberry Pi and Bluetooth. However, these projects were limited by their reliance on proprietary protocols, lack of scalability, and inadequate security measures. This project addresses these limitations by utilizing IP addresses for communication, ensuring interoperability, scalability, and enhanced security. The system integrates sensors, actuators, and IP-enabled devices, allowing users to control and monitor their home appliances remotely through a user-friendly interface. This project contributes to the development of accessible, convenient, and sustainable living solutions for individuals with diverse needs. Several research projects were performed in the realm of home automation, but still a lot needs to be done to fully automate our homes.
