The Influence of Mother Tongue and Location in the Teaching and Learning of Biology Among Public Senior Secondary Schools in Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Abstract
ABSTRACT This project work titled “The Influence Of Mother Tongue And Location In The Teaching And Learning Of Biology Among Public Senior Secondary Schools In Zaria Local Government Area Of Kaduna State”. The study was guided by three objectives, research questions and research hypotheses. The study was limited to public Senior Secondary Students of Zaria local Government area of Kaduna State. A survey design was employed for conducting the research. A sum of 200 respondents was randomly selected and questionnaire was administered, the data was analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test. Base on the result it shows that, Senior Secondary Schools biology students in Zaria should consider incorporating students' mother tongue into biology instruction to facilitate better understanding and academic performance, particularly among male students who strongly perceive its impact. Biology teachers should receive training in utilizing students' mother tongue effectively in biology instruction to address comprehension difficulties and enhance learning outcomes. Base on the finding, it is recommended that, the government should implement educational policies and interventions that address the perceived gender disparity in biology education to ensure equitable learning opportunities for all students etc.
