Impact of Technology Changes in Accounting Profession on the Performance of Manufacturing Firms in Nigeria

Abstract
This study was designed to examine the impact of technology changes in accounting profession on the performance of manufacturing firms in Nigeria. The study was guided with three research objectives such as; investigate the extent to which technology has affected the accounting profession, identify the benefits of technology to the accounting profession and identify the challenges of technology in accounting. The method employed in this study was a descriptive survey research design. Questionnaire was the only instrument used. 20 staff of Ezedoc Food Limited Akure were used for the study respondent. The method of data collection was primary source which is used to collect data. The primary sources was the use of questionnaires. The reliability of the research instrument was determined. The Pearson Correlation Coefficient was used to determine the reliability of the instrument. A co-efficient value of 0.68 indicated that the research instrument was relatively reliable. Any score that was 2.5 and above was accepted, while any score that was below 2.5 was rejected. Therefore, 2.5 was the cut-off mean score for decision taken. The hypothesis test was conducted using the ANOVA statistical tool, SPSS v.230. The study findings highlighted the significant impact of technology on the accounting profession at Ezedoc Food Limited. It also underscored the various benefits of technological advancements, including enhanced productivity among accountants and improved accessibility to financial data for informed decision-making. The study concluded that integrating technology into accounting practices is crucial for enhancing organizational performance and sustaining competitiveness in an increasingly digital landscape.
