Abstract
Abstract The purpose of this work was to find out the relevance of shorthand skills for meeting management in the digital age, case study of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun state. The population of the study was 65 confidential secretaries working in the institution. The researcher decided to study the whole population because it was manageable size. Three (3) research questions guided the study: (i) What are the relevance of shorthand skill to secretaries accuracy in minutes taking in digital age? (ii) What are the relevance of shorthand skill to secretaries speed in minutes taking in digital age? (iii) What are the relevance of shorthand skills of keeping meeting records in digital age? Questionnaires were distributed by hand and the data were analyzed through simple mean method. The findings revealed that shorthand skills is relevant to secretaries to safeguard meeting records, shorthand skills is relevant to secretaries in managing meeting records confidential. The study concluded that shorthand skills for meeting management in digital age. Based on findings the study concluded the relevance of shorthand skills to meeting management remains significant, even with advances in digital recording and note-taking tools. Shorthand provides a practical method for capturing information quickly and accurately, which is essential for effective meeting management. It was recommended that providers of secretarial training and relevant professional associations should encourage the use of shorthand in assisting executives in drafting notice of meeting and agenda of meeting accurately
