Local Government Administration: as a Remedy to Rural Transformation

Abstract
ABSTRACT This study examined local government administration as a catalyt to rural transformation. The local government is viewed as a semi-autonomous area which is formed under the constitution or general laws of a state to carry out functions within specified geographical area. Objective of the study is to find out the roles of local government administration towards the transformation of the rural areas. The study adopted both primary and secondary method of data collection. Data retrieved were analyzed using simple percentage and chi Square method. Findings revealed that local government has become the main fundamental instrument for the acceleration and sustenance of transformation in Nigeria. The study further recommended that developmental projects should not be concentrated in the local government headquarters. Let the projects be spread to cover rural communities within the local government. Key words: Local Government, Administration, Transformation
