Abstract
Newcastle disease is an important disease of poultry globally. Its economic impact is severe due to the high mortality rate which may reach 100 % in affected poultry farm. This study aimed at evaluating the upshots of Zingiber officinale and Garcinia kola extracts on the replication and pathogenic profile of NDV. Twenty (20) 1 day old broiler chicks were used in this study which was divided into 5 groups. Group 1, 2 and 3 were protected with the Zingiber officinale extract, Garcinia kola extract and its mixture respectively, before being challenged with the virus whereas group 4 received only the virus and group 5 represented the control. The protective effects of the extracts were determined by monitoring the changes in body weight, organ weights, pathological features and lesions in broiler chicks. The study showed that the extract significantly (p
