Abstract
This study focuses on an appraisal of the practice of polygyny among Muslims in Eti-Osa, Lagos State, Nigeria. Polygyny, a form of marriage where a man has more than one wife, is a common practice in many Muslim communities and is permitted in Islamic law under specific conditions. The research seeks to explore the cultural, religious, and socio-economic factors influencing the prevalence and acceptance of polygyny among Muslims in this locality. The study concludes by assessing the extent to which the practice aligns with Islamic principles and its implications for Muslim societies in Eti-Osa. Recommendations are provided for balancing cultural practices with religious guidelines, ensuring that the rights of all parties involved are respected in accordance with Islamic teachings.
