Abstract
ABSTRACT The study assessed the Assessing the Impact of Field Trips on Academic Achievement in Biology among Senior Secondary School Students in Public and Private Schools of Ikara, Kaduna State. There were 492 pupils in the entire student body. The research employed a quasi-experimental study design and employed the Field Trip Test (FTT) for both pre- and post-tests. Findings revealed that there was no notable distinction in the average academic performance scores between male and female students. However, there was a substantial difference in the mean scores of students instructed using the field trip teaching strategy compared to those taught via conventional methods, with a mean discrepancy of 21.70, a p-value of 0.000, and a t-value of 1.98. Among the recommendations are the following: field trips should be relevant to curriculum contents when used, and if they are to have the desired effect, they should emphasise real-world experiences where students gather, analyse, interpret, and use data to explain prior knowledge.
