Topic Investigative Journalism and Its Impact on Correspondents in Oyo State

Abstract

*Abstract* Abstract This work focuses on the impact of investigative journalism on media practice in Nigeria. The aim of this study is to discuss the different challenges of investigative journalist practice in Nigeria. The purpose of this research work is to take critical look at challenges encountered by investigative journalist in the course of their duty and various analyses to determine how the corporate objective of journalism and investigative journalism can be realized. The work adopt Social responsibility theory, Agenda setting theory as well as libertarianism theory respectively while the research adopted survey research method in studying the challenges of investigative journalism practitioners in Nigeria. The study also identifies some ingredients that must be present in improving the challenges faced by investigative journalist. one hundred and fifty (150) respondents were drawn using questionnaire while (140) were returned upon which the analysis was based. For effective practice of journalism, the researcher recommends that the government should allow the press to execute their work freely without censorship of any kind.
