Abstract
ABSTRACT This study assesses the impact of NGOs on rural socio-economic development in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State. The research explores how Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)have contributed to improving key sectors such as education, healthcare, agricultural development, and poverty alleviation. No doubt, there can be no significant economic growth in any country without adequate human capital development. Human capital is formal and informal education, yet it can also contain factors such as the costs of raising children, health costs and ability. He observes further that the health and education components are recognized although, education comes ahead of health, showing the priority placed on it. Using quantitative research methodologies, data were collected from local residents, community leaders, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)representatives through distribution questionnaire. The findings indicate that Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)have had a significant positive impact on improving access to healthcare services, promoting agricultural sustainability, and creating employment opportunities. Additionally, NGOs have facilitated infrastructural development, including the provision of clean water and educational facilities, thereby reducing poverty and improving living standards. However, challenges such as inadequate funding, lack of government cooperation, and sustainability issues were identified as limiting factors. The study concludes that Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)are essential agents for socio-economic transformation in rural areas and recommends improved collaboration between government bodies and NGOs to enhance their effectiveness and long-term impact
