Abstract
A solar panel is a device that converts sunlight into electricity by using photovoltaic (PV) cells. This research work is aimed at installing solar power lighting systems in physics Laboratory, Akwa ibom state polytechnic. The system comprises mainly of four (4) solar panels (100W) each 1.5KVA inverter, charge controller, battery and other important accessories. The solar panels are mounted on the roof top using rooftop mounting techniques and connected in parallel using 4mm cable. The parallel formation of the solar panel was chosen so as to increase the current and maintain the voltage of the installed solar panels were 1.5A, 396W and 22V respectively.
