Abstract
ABSTRACT In contemporary society, the demand for versatile unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) capable of performing two or more tasks has surged significantly. This paper presents development process of an innovative Carriage for a Surveillance Drone System (CSDS) tailored to meet diverse operational requirements. The CSDS integrates both carriage and surveillance capabilities, offering a novel solution for various applications such as logistics, security, and reconnaissance. The design phase involved a comprehensive analysis of functional requirements, operational scenarios, and technological constraints. Leveraging advanced aerodynamic principles and lightweight materials, the CSDS was engineered to achieve optimal flight performance while accommodating payload carriage and surveillance equipment. Emphasis was placed on modularity and scalability to facilitate customization for specific mission objectives. The development phase focused on implementing cutting-edge technologies to enhance the system's functionality and reliability. Advanced control algorithms were integrated to ensure precise manoeuvrability and stability during both carriage and surveillance missions. Additionally, state-of-the-art sensor suites and imaging systems were incorporated to enable real-time monitoring and data acquisition with high accuracy and resolution. Furthermore, the CSDS was designed with adaptability in mind, featuring interchangeable payload modules and configurable mission profiles. This flexibility allows operators to tailor the system according to evolving operational needs and environmental conditions, enhancing overall mission effectiveness and versatility. The proposed CSDS represents a significant advancement in UAV technology, offering a unified solution for both carriage and surveillance applications. Through meticulous development processes, the system achieves a harmonious balance between performance, functionality, and adaptability, paving the way for its widespread deployment across various industries and sectors. Performance test was carried out on the Carriage for a Surveillance Drone System, after series of tests it was discovered that the drone could provide a maximum flight time of 15 minute on a single charge, a maximum altitude of 300 meters, it has a communication range of 1-2 kilometers depending on the terrain and weather conditions, it can operate between the temperature range of 0-40 degree Celsius (32-104-degree Fahrenheit), it can handle wind speed of up to 20-30 km/h (12-19 mph) without any issues and can carry a maximum load of 140g.
