Design and Construction of 5kva Inverter

The need for a constant energy has led individual and establishment invest in an alternative power source such as solar power system. This project is aim at designing and constructing a SKVA solar inverter which is one of the major components needed in solar energy system. The construction of this project involves some vital components such SG3525IC, which serves as oscillator, LM324 used for amplification of the voltage coming from the oscillator circuit, IRFZ44 that was used for the power MOSFETS and finally a center tapped step-up transformer at the output. The SG3525 help us a lot from getting the accurate frequency needed for the oscillating circuit to oscillate properly using the stated value of capacitors and resistors from the manufacturer's datasheet. The construction will be first carried out on a bread board for testing purpose and check it reliability. before transferring it into a permanent vero board. The heat sink will be bolted together with the IRFZ44 power MOSFETS to reduce the amount of heat generated by the MOSFETS in order to overcome overheating. The various stages that form the inverter circuit; the inversion stage, output voltage regulation circuit, mains control circuit, low battery circuit, overload disconnection circuit; charging circuit and change over circuit via Solar panel capacity of the solar panel needed will also be design designed. These were later interconnected to operate as a single unit. Choice of components used at each stage of the design, will be based on values gotten from design calculations and/or on information provided from manufacturer's data. Several tests will be carried out to determine the level of performance of the entire circuit to ensure that the circuit operated at the expected frequency of 50 Hz, output waveform was sinusoidal and the output power rating was about 5 KVA
