Development of Entreprenuerial Skills Among Secondary School Students Through Biology Education in Some Selected Secondary School in Gwale Local Government Area

ABSTRACT The study examined Development of Entreprenuerial skills among secondary school students through Biology Education in some selected secondary school in Gwale Local Government area. The design for this study was a descriptive survey. The study was conducted in Gwale local government secondary schools of Kano state, with the intention of developing entrepreneurial skills among students. The overall total numbers of the questionnaires distributed were one hundred (100). The questionnaires were given in order to obtain a good and confidence data in those three selected School in Gwale Local Government. To be sure of collecting the questionnaires back, the researchers intends to distribute them by themselves and collect them from the various students that were given the questionnaires. An entrepreneurship club (mushroom farming, bee farming, horticulture and floriculture) should be organized and encourage in basic science and biology education department. Teachers should organize field trip for the students, this is to enable them get firsthand information and seeing things for themselves e.g a visit to soap, cream, honey Packaging cake baking factories, bee farms and horticulture site e.t.c. Government should provide fund which will be used in purchasing materials or establishing of farms that will be used for practical purposes. Both the federal, State government and private organization should employ qualified Biology teachers and the existing ones who have been working for years should be made to attend workshop and seminars on new development in entrepreneurship education, and others science related discipline. Biology curriculum should be reviewed to increase contents that are relevant to entrepreneurship. Project funds should be made available to each department for the students’ business ventures to develop entrepreneurship. Keyword: Entreprenure, Skills, Biology Education
