An Investigation of Academic Indiscipline Among Secondary School Students in Biology (a Case Study of Ungoggo Local Government Area, Kano State)

ABSTRACT This study delves into the exploration of academic indiscipline among secondary school students in Biology within Ungoggo Local Government Area, Kano State. Indiscipline is a multifaceted concept that encompasses certain behaviours which characterized by lack of conformity to established rules, norms or authority. The aim of this research was to uncover prevalent forms of academic indiscipline, identify contributing factors, examine its effects on academic performance, and propose effective strategies for mitigation. The study employs a descriptive survey research design, the population under investigation consists of secondary school biology students in Ungoggo LGA, with a sample size of 120 students selected for the study. Through this investigation, the study seeks to offer valuable insights into the dynamics of academic indiscipline among secondary school students, providing a basis for informed interventions and policies geared towards fostering a disciplined and conducive learning environment in Biology education. Furthermore, the study offer recommendations and interventions to address and mitigate the prevalence of academic indiscipline among secondary school students, thereby fostering a conducive learning environment conducive to academic excellence and holistic development.
