Abstract
This project aims to enhance the efficiency of bean processing by designing and modifying an existing bean threshing machine to incorporate a sophisticated winnowing mechanism. The primary goal is to automate the separation of beans from chaff, thereby improving processing efficiency and product quality. The project focuses on three main objectives: First, to integrate an effective winnowing mechanism into the existing threshing machine, automating the separation process to remove chaff and debris from the beans. This innovation seeks to minimize manual intervention, thereby reducing labor costs and improving operational efficiency. Second, the project aims to optimize the threshing process by developing a robust and adaptable mechanism that can handle various bean varieties. Third, the design includes an advanced chaff collection system to guarantee clean separation of beans, preventing contamination and ensuring that only high-quality beans are processed. The modified machine features enhanced design elements, including adjustable settings for different bean types, a streamlined winnowing system for efficient chaff removal, and a user-friendly interface. Performance tests demonstrate that the modified machine significantly reduces processing time and enhances the quality of the final product compared to traditional methods. This project underscores the potential for advanced mechanical solutions to improve agricultural practices, offering a valuable tool for bean producers and contributing to the modernization of agricultural equipment. This project focuses on the design, modification, and testing of a cowpea thresher that incorporates a winnowing mechanism to enhance its efficiency in threshing and separating chaff. The primary objective was to modify an existing bean threshing machine by integrating a winnowing mechanism to automate the separation of beans from chaff, optimizing the threshing process for various bean varieties, and ensuring an effective chaff collection system. The design aimed to improve both the capacity and efficiency of the threshing operation. During testing, the machine demonstrated consistent performance across different speed.
