Abstract
The study investigates citizens’ awareness and application of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act in Ado-Ekiti. Using a survey design, data were collected from 200 respondents through structured questionnaires. Findings reveal that while many citizens are aware of the FOI Act, few understand its provisions or apply it effectively due to limited sensitization and bureaucratic barriers. The study recommends intensified public education and simplified processes to enhance the practical use of the FOI Act in promoting transparency.
