Employee Discipline and Organizational Performance: a Study of Zenith Bank Plc, Auchi

Abstract
This study examined employee discipline and organizational performance using staffs of Zenith Bank Plc, Auchi. The objective of this study was to ascertain the effect of disciplinary procedures on organizational productivity. A population of Fifty eight (58) employees from which fifty (50) was selected using the simple random techniques. Questionnaire were administered, retrieved and analyzed. Findings revealed that there is a significant impact of disciplinary procedures on organizational performance. On the basis of the findings the following recommendations were made that Zenith Bank should establish comprehensive policies and procedures outlining expected employee behavior, performance standards, and disciplinary actions for misconduct. These guidelines should be communicated clearly to all employees upon hire and reiterated periodically. Furthermore, Disciplinary procedures should be seen as an opportunity for employees to learn and grow, not a punishment, it is possible to foster a work environment that encourages employees to do their best and avoid discipline altogether.
