Online Media Reportage on the New Naira Redesign in Nigeria

Abstract
This study is online media reportage on the New Naira Note Redesign in Nigeria. The essence of the study is to determine how online media report issues on the new Naira note redesign. The study used the survey design. A sample of 400 respondent were selected using the purposive sampling technique. The study concluded that Every act of Nigeria politicians has always been considered as a move for selfish reasons rather than what will benefit the public. Policies, decisions, and laws are made putting only the rich into consideration while the masses have nothing to benefit from. The re-design of the new Naira note was another adventure by those in power to promote another selfish agenda. The study therefore recommended that, the role of online media the issue of Naira design brought out the mind of the government to see what they are doing wrong and quickly made them to adjust as soon as possible. Therefore, online media should be supported by the government and other stakeholders in the society. Online media should not be seen as witch-hunting of politicians and stakeholders but as an avenue to promote transparency in government and the society in general. Therefore, support should be given to online media in their report on economic and social issues in Nigeria.
