ABSTRACT This study sought to examine the relationship between social variables and promiscuous tendency of female undergraduate students in the University of Uyo, Uyo. Three research objectives, three research questions and three research hypotheses were formulated for this study. Two hundred (200) respondents were randomly selected from the population of all students in the Faculty of Education, University of Uyo, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The researcher constructed instrument titled “Social variables and promiscuous tendency Questionnaire (SVPTQ)” was used for data collection. Pearson product moment correlation (PPMC) was used to test the research questions and hypotheses. The results obtained indicated that social variables had significant relationship with the promiscuous tendency of female undergraduate students in the University of Uyo, Uyo. Based on the findings, the study concluded by recommending among others that, government should invest heavily in ICT security to streamline, restrict and monitor the access which students have to social media pages that contribute to reckless and destructive behaviours.
