Formulation of a Mosquito Repellent Lotion Using Tumeric

Abstract
Plants derivatives are in high demand due to the toxicity of synthetic products. Plant derivatives have proven to be effective against several diseases. Turmeric which is a plant derivative has been proven to have so many health benefits which include antioxidant properties, anti-microbial properties and anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric has also been proven to be an effective repellent against mosquitoes, hence the formulation of the mosquito repellent lotion. This lotion was evaluated for visual appearance, irritancy test, pH and thermal stability. The efficiency of the lotion was recorded as 77% efficiency after the field test method was used to determine its efficiency. The lotion was in line with the WHO efficacy standard and it offered repellency above 50%
