Abstract
Mutagenesis is a technique used to induce genetic mutations in plants, including maize. The goal is to introduce desirable traits, such as disease resistance or improved yield. This project was conducted to determine the mutagenic effect of sodium azide on the agronomic characteristics of maize plants. The maize seeds were treated at six different concentrations of sodium azide 0 ,2 ,4 ,6 ,8 and10mM. The results obtained showed that sodium azide significantly affected the maize agronomic traits in concentration dependent manner (p
