Abstract
ABSTRACT The Design and Construction of an Automated Poultry Feeder is a system developed to enhance poultry management by automating the feeding process through the integration of electronic and electromechanical components. The system utilizes a microcontroller (Arduino) as its central processing unit to coordinate the operation of various components such as the ultrasonic sensor, servo motor, and power supply unit. The ultrasonic sensor detects the presence and distance of birds or the feed level in the trough, sending real-time signals to the Arduino for processing. Based on the sensor’s feedback, the servo motor controls the opening and closing mechanism of the feed container, dispensing feed only when necessary to prevent waste and ensure consistent feeding. The power supply unit provides the required electrical energy to all components, converting AC mains voltage to regulated DC voltage suitable for the Arduino and other modules. The system ensures efficient feed management, reduces labor cost, minimizes wastage, and guarantees timely feeding even in the absence of manual supervision. Thus, the automated poultry feeder serves as a reliable, low-cost, and sustainable solution that integrates modern embedded technology to improve productivity and efficiency in poultry farming.
