Abstract
Abstract The study conclusively demonstrates that smartphone addiction is a significant factor contributing to mental health problems among university students. As evidenced by the data, students who engage in excessive smartphone use report higher levels of psychological distress, including anxiety, depression, and stress. This is consistent with findings from prior research, which indicate that excessive screen time and compulsive smartphone use can adversely affect mental well-being. Moreover, the study emphasizes the moderating role of personality traits like diligence, self-discipline, and organization. These traits appear to mitigate the harmful effects of smartphone addiction, highlighting the importance of promoting self-regulation and time management in university settings. By fostering these traits, students may be better equipped to manage their smartphone use, ensuring that it does not interfere
