Abstract
The Enterobacterales family was the predominant bacterial family. E. coli was the most prevalent isolated bacterial species. The aim of this study is to find out the Prevalence and Antimicrobial Susceptibility of Escherichia Coli in the Urine of Kwara State university students. The total of 10 subjects were used for this study, 6 female and 4male into sterile bottle and was properly transported to the laboratory immediately for proper analysis. A total of three (3) bacterial genera were successfully isolated from the positive cultures. Escherichia coli were the most prevalent isolated group 84.2%),. They were Gram negative rod with cluster arrangement of cells. The isolates were catalase, Methyl Red test and VP positive but negative to Indole Result. This study revealed the test for susceptibility indicates that 4(four) (80%) of the isolates were susceptible to Ciprofloxacin, Amoxicillin and Augmentin when cross examined in the antimicrobial disk diffusion zone guide while (20%) of the isolates was resistant to it. All 10 (100%) of the isolates was resistant and inhibited to Pefloxacin. This study could provide insights to quick awareness of UTI among the students which can spread and into a successful antimicrobial selection for UTI treatment. The findings could also serve as a basis for implementing new policies to control the emergence of to the spread of the infections.
