Influence of Availability and Utilisation of Ict Tools in the Teaching and Learning of English Language in Secondary Schools in Ila Local Government Area of Osun State.

Abstract
This research work is based on the availability and utilisation of ICT facilities in the teaching and learning of English language in Senior Secondary Schools in Ila Local Government Area of Osun State. The population for the study consists of students. A sample of 100 respondents were sampled, 20 respondents each from five (5) secondary schools were selected through simple random technique. Data were gathered using a self-constructed questionnaire titled “Availability and Utilisation of Information and Communication Technology Facilities in English Language Questionnaire” (AUICTFELQ). The validity and reliability of instrument were ascertained. Percentage count and frequent were used to answer research questions while Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) was used to test the formulated hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The result of the study revealed that the null hypothesis one was rejected. This implied that there was significant relationship between the availability of ICT facilities and the teaching and learning of English language. The relationship between the availability of ICT facilities and the teaching and learning of English language was moderate and statistically significant in a positive direction. The null hypothesis two was rejected. This implied that there was significance relationship between the utilisation of ICT facilities and the teaching and learning of English language. The relationship between the utilisation of ICT facilities and the teaching and learning of English language was high and statistically significant in a positive direction. The last finding revealed that the null hypothesis was rejected. This implied that there was significant relationship between the benefits of ICT facilities and the teaching and learning of English language. The relationship between the benefits of ICT facilities and the teaching and learning of English language was high and statistically significant in a positive direction. It was concluded that the use of information and communication technology (ICT) cannot be underestimated in language teaching and learning because the emerging technologies make it pertinent and practical to approach learning in ways that have been advocated by scientist, theorists and educational psychologists. It was recommended that the teachers should upgrade and familiarize themselves in the use and application of ICT facilities in the acquisition of language education.
